San Diego-Based Running Retailer Named Official Sports Retailer for the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K and the Santa Monica Classic

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The McCourt Foundation has announced a new, multi-year sponsorship partnership with Road Runner Sports, naming the San Diego-based running retailer as the Official Sports Retailer of the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon and the foundation’s full calendar of Los Angeles events.

The partnership is designed to enhance the participant experience in both training and racing. With more than 40 years of experience helping runners and walkers find their perfect fit, Road Runner Sports will host multiple official training runs for the LA Road Runners, the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon’s official in-person training program, helping thousands of runners prepare to tackle the 26.2-mile course.

During ASICS Los Angeles Marathon weekend, Road Runner Sports will feature a major brand activation and interactive retail experience at the two-day Lifestyle Expo, hosted at Dodger Stadium. The retailer will also host pre- and post-marathon pop-up shops at select Road Runner Sports stores in the Los Angeles area.

“It’s important to The McCourt Foundation to partner with local Southern California brands whenever possible. It brings an authentic local experience to participants in our globally recognized events,” said Karen O’Connell, Head of Sponsorship at The McCourt Foundation. “Road Runner Sports shares our deep commitment to the running community, health, and wellness. Their expertise and local presence make them the perfect fit to support our runners through every step of their journey, from their first training run to crossing the finish line.”

“Road Runner Sports has been part of the Southern California running community since 1983, so being part of these iconic LA races means a lot to us,” said Mike Gotfredson Jr., President of Road Runner Sports. “The best part of running has always been the people. We’re excited to bring our expertise, our stores, and our love for this community to runners from their first training run all the way to the finish line.”

The partnership reflects a shared mission between The McCourt Foundation and Road Runner Sports to empower individuals to live healthier lives and build a stronger community through running.
