INDIANAPOLIS – Elite athletes from near and far will be chasing an Olympic Trials qualifying time to secure their trip to the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon, scheduled to take place in Orlando, FL on February 3, 2024. Beyond Monumental, the 501(c)3 non-profit responsible for the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon, has established an expanded prize purse and bonus pool to encourage fast times and a deep field of competition.

The Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon elite fields will feature a $13,600 prize purse for top finishers across both distances and divisions; an increase from 2022. Additionally, Beyond Monumental has announced tiered incentives for athletes that achieve the Olympic Trials qualifying standard at the event. The bonus structure consists of a $1,000 bonus for 1st – 5th, a $500 bonus for 6th – 10th, and a $250 bonus for 11th – 20th for the Marathon as well as a $500 bonus for 1st – 3rd for the Half Marathon for both the Elite Men & Elite Women fields.

“We are excited to continue to incentivize elite athletes to come run fast in Indianapolis. The fields are already filling fast and we’re looking forward to another great year of Monumental racing,” said Jed Cornforth, executive director of Beyond Monumental.

In 2019, the CNO Financial Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half Marathon had a total of 39 athletes run under the time standard to compete in the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Marathon. The 2024 Olympic Trials qualifying times have gotten quicker; men will have to meet the standard of 2:18:00 in the marathon or 1:03:00 in the half and women will have to meet the standard of 2:37:00 in the marathon or 1:12:00 in the half.
