SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Nov. 10, 2023) – It’s time to lace up your running shoes and get ready to rock! The Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll® Running Series San Antonio is back and gearing up for its 15th anniversary race weekend December 2, 2023 – Dec. 3, 2023. This milestone marks not only a decade and a half of electrifying races but also the incredible transformation of the health of the Alamo City. The Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio offers a running tour of the Alamo City with distances for everyone including Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and a 5K race. Registration for the 2023 Certified Piedmontese Beef Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio is open by visiting, www.runrocknroll.com/san-antonio.

In 2008, San Antonio faced an alarming challenge – it was ranked as one of the world’s fattest cities. Determined to make a difference and hoping to inspire San Antonians to adopt a healthier lifestyle, the city of San Antonio worked to bring Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series to town. While there is still room to improve, San Antonio has moved from being the second fattest city in the world in 2014 to now holding the 25th position (out of 100 cities that were ranked) thanks in part to the dedication and enthusiasm of the city’s runners and walkers, and the change goes beyond weight.

“As we celebrate our 15th year, we invite everyone to be a part of this incredible journey,” said Scott Langen, Regional Director for The IRONMAN Group, owners of Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series. “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just starting your health and fitness adventure, there’s a place for you at this event. You can choose to run or walk the 5K or challenge yourself with the full marathon as we have a distance for all abilities.”

This event has become an annual spectacle, showcasing the spirit and strength of the city. Local bands and musicians that highlight the Alamo City and central Texas’ cultural flare have flourished through the exposure provided by the event, playing a variety of genres of music along the courses while simultaneously creating an unforgettable ambiance unique to San Antonio for both participants and spectators.

In 2023, the event’s mission in San Antonio remains the same; guiding runners to embracing a health journey in the months leading up to race day and as they revel in the music-filled, spirited atmosphere on the course. The celebration isn’t just on the route – it’s all around the city. The public is invited to enjoy the local musicians, join in on the fun of the Health & Fitness expo at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center during race week, try the local cuisine, support the runners during the races alongside the routes and be a part of the unity of our city that has created so beautifully over the past 15 years during this event.

This is not just a race; it’s an opportunity to be a part of the change, to promote good health, and to champion one another as a community. Come out and make a positive change in your life and in San Antonio.
