Boston (February 12, 2020) – DMSE Sports, an event management company for the road race and charity walk industries, has named Matthew West, long-time senior vice president of operations, as chief executive officer.

With more than 15 years in mass participatory event management, first as a senior event manager and then ultimately as senior vice president at DMSE Sports, West brings extensive know-how and comprehensive plans to the role to continue the company’s growth and modernization. He has been named one of the Industry Leaders Under 40 by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security and he currently serves as vice president on the board of Running USA, the running industry’s pre-eminent trade association.

“I’m honored to evolve into this role at DMSE Sports,” West said of his new position as CEO. “I’ve been lucky to be part of DMSE’s continued rise in the industry, collaborating on some of the most iconic events in the country and elevating the quality of mass participatory events. We have an incredible team that brings a wealth of knowledge to our events, and I look forward to guiding and watching that grow for years to come.”

“As we look to the future of DMSE Sports, elevating Matt to this position made sense,” said Founder and President Dave McGillivray. “He’s been instrumental in building relationships with new and existing clients and creating interesting opportunities for the company. He has a passion for planning and executing flawless events and memorable experiences for the participants, and I’m excited to continue to work closely with him.”

In his position as DMSE Sports president, McGillivray will continue in his role of business development and will continue to direct a number of DMSE Sports’ marquee events, while West will manage the day-to-day business.
