Annual Run Project event combines a USATF-certified 5K, Oktoberfest traditions, and admission to the three-day Fort Worth Oktoberfest festival
FORT WORTH, Texas — September 3, 2026 — Lederhosen, running shoes and a little Texas-sized Oktoberfest spirit will take over Trinity Park when the Fort Worth Oktoberfest 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk returns Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Produced by Run Project in conjunction with Fort Worth Oktoberfest, the annual event invites runners and walkers of all abilities to experience 3.1 miles of wunderbar along Fort Worth’s Trinity Trail before continuing the celebration at the Fort Worth Oktoberfest festival.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. at Trinity Park, 2933 Farmhouse Way in Fort Worth, following the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk at 8:30 a.m. The 5K features a USATF-certified course with a fairly flat route and scenic views along the Trinity River.
Unlike a traditional 5K where the celebration ends shortly after the finish line, Fort Worth Oktoberfest 5K is designed to make the race part of a larger Saturday experience.
Registered participants receive a commemorative Fort Worth Oktoberfest glass stein, lederhosen-inspired race shirt, custom finisher medal, and free three-day admission to the Fort Worth Oktoberfest festival.
A 5K With Plenty of Oktoberfest Personality
Race morning brings Bavaria to Fort Worth with lederhosen, dirndls, alpine hats, and plenty of creative costumes encouraged.
Following the run, participants can stick around for the event’s Costume Contest at 10:15 a.m. and test their post-race strength during the Stein Hoisting Competition at 10:30 a.m. The Fort Worth Oktoberfest festival gates open at 11 a.m., allowing runners to transition directly from race morning to the festival.
The combination makes the event approachable for experienced runners as well as participants looking for a more social first 5K.
Whether runners are chasing a personal best on the certified course, walking with friends, dressing as a full Bavarian running crew or simply looking for a different way to kick off Oktoberfest weekend, the focus is as much on the experience as the finish time.
3.1 Miles of Wunderbar
The Trinity Park location provides runners with a distinctly Fort Worth race experience. Rather than navigating city streets for the entire event, participants travel along the Trinity Trail on a relatively flat route with views along the river.

- 7:30 a.m. — Packet Pickup/Registration Opens
- 8:30 a.m. — 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Starts
- 9:00 a.m. — 5K Starts
- 9:40 a.m. — Overall Awards Ceremony
- 10:00 a.m. — Age Group Awards
- 10:15 a.m. — Costume Contest
- 10:30 a.m. — Stein Hoisting Competition
- 11:00 a.m. — Fort Worth Oktoberfest Gates Open
More Than a Finish Line
The Fort Worth Oktoberfest 5K is part of Run Project’s lineup of locally produced North Texas running events.
The event blends running with one of Fort Worth’s signature fall celebrations, giving participants an opportunity to turn a Saturday morning 5K into an entire Oktoberfest experience.
Lederhosen are encouraged. Running shoes are highly recommended.
