HAL Sports celebrates 15 years of business with an exceptional 2023 and even brighter 2024

Fifteen years ago, Lonnie and Michelle Somers of Littleton, CO, were presented with a unique opportunity to turn their passion for running into a comprehensive sporting event management company, now known as HAL Sports.

With passion and perseverance, Lonnie and Michelle took their newly acquired business venture, which was begun in the early 80s by Creigh Kelley (longtime icon in the US running industry), from a local timing operation to a full-spectrum coast-to-coast enterprise. In 2023, HAL worked with more than 80 events, from small races of 100 participants to large-scale events of more than 40,000. All told, HAL touched more than 145,000 athletes last year.

A few stand-out events from 2023 include Colfax Marathon, the return of the YMCA Stair Climb for Los Angeles, BOLDERBoulder, Colorado Middle School XC Championships, NYC Brooklyn Half, The Great Candy Run, and the 50th Annual Mile High United Way Turkey Trot.

“I think what sets us apart is our dedication to being a resource for our clients and providing consistent guidance,” said Lonnie Somers, Chief HAL Officer. “We consistently broaden our scope of services to meet the needs of our clientele. Many events are now asking us to direct their events from A to Z. And we are thrilled to do it!”
