DENVER, CO — Fifty-one years ago, Mile High United Way established a Turkey Trot in Denver on Thanksgiving Day to raise funds to support Metro Denver families. The event has become one of Denver’s greatest Thanksgiving traditions, having raised millions to help families meet their basic needs, access early childhood education, and achieve academic success. More than 11,000 runners and walkers took part in the 50th anniversary event last year. HAL Sports and its legacy companies have provided full event management and directing of the event for more than four decades and continue.

Returning for its second annual event in the NW Denver Metro area is the Feed Your Soul Turkey Trot 5K taking place in Wheat Ridge, CO on Nov. 23. This event is organized by Feed Your Soul Fitness to raise funds for local charities including Wheat Ridge’s Feed the Future Backpack Program and Community Table of Arvada. HAL Sports has been selected to partner on this event to create a memorable, high-quality event that will donate 100% of proceeds to provide meals to local kids in need.

“Thanksgiving is a celebration of gratitude, and we’re thrilled to partner with two remarkable organizations making an impact in our Denver communities,” said Chief HAL Officer, Lonnie Somers. “Both events bring people together, combining fun, fitness, and a festive spirit to kick off the holiday in a meaningful way.”

“At Feed Your Soul Fitness, giving back to the community has always been at the heart of what we do,” said Ashley Andrien, with Feed Your Soul Fitness. “With the Wheat Ridge Turkey Trot 5K, we wanted to take it a step further and do something truly extraordinary to help fight food insecurity and support local kids in need. We are so grateful to the other local businesses whose sponsorship makes this event possible.”

Mile High United Way President and CEO Christine Benero is proud to partner with HAL Sports on the Turkey Trot each year. “The HAL Sports team helps us produce a fun event for our runners, walkers and volunteers, so we can raise funds for Mile High United Way’s mission to support families and address our community’s most pressing needs,” she said.

The Feed Your Soul Fitness Turkey Trot 5K is held at Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge, CO on Saturday, November 23, and offers a 5K race plus a wide range of sponsorship opportunities.

The Mile High United Way Turkey Trot is held at Washington Park in Denver, CO on Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 28, and offers a 4-mile race, the Lil Gobbler One-Mile Fun Run, and Furry Friends Registration.
