September 5, 2023 – VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA – J&A Racing’s fall season kicked off this past weekend with the inaugural Chartway Virginia Beach 10 Miler & 5K and what a weekend it was for the thousands of runners that took to the streets with near perfect weather conditions.

The weekend kicked off Saturday morning with the 5K with participants gliding through the Oceanfront streets and finishing on the boardwalk right past the Virginia Beach Pier. On Sunday, runners laced up for another gorgeous morning to take on 10 miles through the Virginia Beach Oceanfront with perfect views on top of the Rudee Inlet bridge and entertainment throughout the course. Many runners ran both events as part of the Live the Life Challenge. Those participants were awarded an extra medal and bragging rights. Once runners crossed the finish line, the morning continued with a festive end of summer beach party on the sand complete with live music, cold beers, and plenty of high fives with one excited runner exclaiming, “This weekend has been so amazing, I think I just found my new favorite race”.

Jerry Frostick, Co-Owner of J&A Racing mused, “We wanted this race to be a celebration and we wanted to keep it local, and I think we were able to achieve that with the City of Virginia Beach, Chartway, our sponsors and volunteers and the energy from every single participant, both local and visiting, this weekend.”

Chartway’s Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer, Rob Keatts, who ran the 5K on Saturday said “Giving back to the community while running shoulder to shoulder with the runners during this incredible weekend has brought this event full circle and really instilled in us what a thriving area we all live, work and run in.” During the post-race celebrations, the Chartway Promise Foundation granted wishes to two families who have children battling cancer making their dreams come true.
