The Alameda 10 Miler & 8K is back for its 5th year with several exciting developments. The event will be hosted by Big Huge Day Events at Crown Memorial Beach Park on August 9.

What makes this year extra special? The adoption of a new name: Cooper Teare, in honor of a hometown running super star.
Cooper, who grew up in Alameda, attended St. Joe high school and earned a spot on the prestigious University of Oregon roster. He went on to win two national championships and left his mark on several school records during his collegiate term. Since then Cooper has competed under the Nike brand in two Olympic trials and taken the trophy for the 2022 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 1500m. He also set records in the 8K, hence the addition of that race to this year’s event.
Not only is he a hometown hero but his style and effort echoes the mission of the Alameda 10 Miler & 8K – to be more than a run. His role at the event is to inspire local youth and collegiate runners, and all of us really, to celebrate our love of running and give back to the place that raised him.
