The event saw an impressive turnout after a first-ever incorporation of the IronBruin Collegiate Division
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The LA Tri-Series invited over 20 West Coast collegiate teams to join the oldest triathlon series in the world. 65 student-athletes took part in the race as part of the IronBruin Collegiate Division on Sunday, Oct. 6, and displayed impressive performances all around. Colleges represented at this year’s event included USC, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, and San Diego State University.
Edoardo Leone from UCLA, the men’s collegiate Sprint winner, completed the 1K swim, 24K bike, and 5K run in 1:08:47, followed by the men’s second-place finisher, Dmitriy Major from UC San Diego and third-place winner Angel Rodriguez from USC. The women’s collegiate Sprint was led by Evelyn Allen from San Diego State University, who finished with a time of 1:24:12. Second and third-place finishers for the women’s division were Zoe Stull from San Diego State University and Shaina King from UC San Diego respectively.

The Fall Classic included five other races for non-collegiate athletes to choose from, which included the following options:
● Super Sprint Triathlon: 300M swim, 12K bike, 5K run
● Championship Triathlon: 1K swim, 34K bike, 10K run
● Super Sprint AquaBike: 300M swin, 12K bike
● Championship AquaBike: 1K swim, 34K bike
● Championship – Duathlon: 5K run, 34K bike, 10K run
Overall winners in the Super Sprint triathlon event were Debbie Booth in the women’s division with a time of 1:04:20 and Jacob Ford in the men’s division who finished in 48:49. Overall winners in the Championship triathlon event included Natalie Grabowski in the women’s division who finished in 2:12:42 and Bryan Rocha in the men’s division with a time of 1:59:04.
The LA Tri-Series has taken place in Bonelli Park since its inaugural event. This location provides new triathletes an opportunity to participate in an open-water swim in a safe environment, to cycle on a safe route with little traffic and to run a well-supported, scenic course. For those with more background in the sport, the course’s elements can adapt to the specific goals of participants at all experience levels.
