Since 2023, Recover Brands has proudly served as the apparel and merchandise partner for the Marine Corps Marathon Organization’s year-round family of events. Known as “The People’s Marathon”, the iconic Marine Corps Marathon has a long history of steadfast leadership, including its commitment to advancing sustainability in the running event industry.

MCM was drawn to Recover for this prestigious partnership due to its history of delivering high-quality, low-waste apparel for race participant shirts, event merchandise, and more, while also utilizing Recover’s 360° Closed Loop Program to further a fully circular apparel program.

Now, in the third year of the partnership, the Marine Corps Marathon has achieved a remarkable milestone: becoming the 3rd largest marathon in North America, with 40,000 registrants celebrating the event’s 50th Anniversary.

Throughout the year, Recover and MCM collaborate on multi-channel merchandise initiatives leading up to, during, and after race weekend, including In-Training gear, limited edition releases, participant shirts, finisher apparel, staff and volunteer items, and of course, a comprehensive selection of expo merchandise – all made from recycled materials in Recover’s HyperLocal® supply chain.
This year, Recover’s 2-day MCM Expo booth featured interactive, educational, and energy-building activations to engage with runners from around the world about the importance of sustainability and to build excitement leading into race day. The hands-on activations gave participants a closer look at how small actions can make a big impact- from recycling their old race tees to learning about the process behind making Recover’s 100% recycled apparel.

360 Closed Loop Apparel Recycling Program: Runners were invited to drop off used apparel to be recycled and transformed into new Recover gear, showcasing its fully circular system.

Photo Booth: Complete with props and signs, this photo opportunity was a fun and shareable moment for runners to capture their pre-race excitement while showing their support for sustainability.

Process Material Learning: Runners, and the all-important family support system, explored Recover’s innovative production process and learned how post-consumer plastic bottles and upcycled cotton are turned into premium, performance-ready apparel.

“Win Free Gear For A Year” Activation: Expo-goers had the chance to win a year’s worth of Recover gear by entering to win and guessing the correct size of Recover’s jumbo recycled t-shirt.

“Recover Runners” at the Shakeout Run: Ahead of race day, Recover partnered with Pacers Running, Untapped, ALTRA and MCM to host a shakeout run to energize participants and recognize the accomplishments of those in the Marine Corps Marathon community.
