San Diego’s First Race of the New Year Unveils a Fresh New Look Ahead of its Milestone 20th Anniversary
SAN DIEGO, CA — Registration is now open for the 20th Annual San Diego Resolution Run, returning to beautiful Mission Bay on Saturday, January 9, 2027. As the Resolution Run enters its 20th year, the event is unveiling a refreshed brand identity inspired by the spirit of new beginnings and the optimism of the first morning of a new year.
The updated look reflects what the Resolution Run has always been about: helping runners of every level begin the year with purpose, momentum, and a goal worth chasing. Inspired by the calm beauty of a Mission Bay sunrise, the new branding reflects the belief that the most meaningful part of the New Year isn’t the countdown to midnight—it’s what you choose to do when the sun comes up. Because that’s what the Resolution Run has always been about: taking that first step toward something bigger.
“The Resolution Run has never just been about running,” said Eric Marenburg, Chief Running Officer for San Diego Running Co. “Every January, people show up with different goals, different stories, and different reasons for being there. What brings them together is the decision to start the year by doing something positive for themselves. The San Diego Resolution Run welcomes runners and walkers of all experience levels with three distance options:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
Participants will enjoy a scenic waterfront course through Mission Bay, along with a custom finisher medal, premium race shirt, chip-timed results, complimentary race photos, and a post-race Wellness Village featuring local health and fitness partners.
Since its inaugural event in 2008, the Resolution Run has become a Southern California tradition, drawing thousands of participants each year to celebrate fresh starts and healthy living.
