Madison, Wis. (May 30, 2025) — Thousands of runners, walkers, spectators and volunteers came together May 24-25 for the 2025 Run Madtown Race Weekend, widely regarded as the official kickoff to summer in Madison. With record numbers across the 5K, 10K, and the Mad for Madtown Challenge presented by Johnson Fitness & Wellness events, the weekend offered a festive, flamingo-themed, inclusive experience for participants of all ages and abilities.

“Thank you to every participant, every sponsor, and every incredible volunteer who made the 2025 Run Madtown weekend a success. The energy, the smiles, and the spirit of pink-hued celebration are what makes this event so special year after year,” said Beth Salinger, race director and owner of Run Madtown.

This year marked the first Run Madtown use of the Laurel timing system by Brooksee, which enhanced the event experience significantly. The technology allowed friends and family to follow participants in real time and provided race announcers with detailed live data at the finish line. Participants could conveniently view their results and event photos in one place, making the entire race journey seamless and interactive.

“The Laurel timing experience was outstanding. We are extremely pleased with the ease of results and interactivity for our participants,” said Salinger. “We look forward to using Laurel again at future events, and the on-site staff support from the Brooksee team was excellent.”

Run Madtown also extends a heartfelt thank you to the 2025 sponsors, whose support made the event possible: Michelob Ultra, Johnson Fitness and Wellness, Morgan’s Shoes, sweetgreen, usCellular, Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin, Wisconsin Beef Council, Wisconsin Potatoes and Vegetables Growers Association, Wellness Council of Wisconsin, Ian’s Pizza, Dragonfly Hot Yoga, Hyatt Place Downtown, Lily’s Magical Treats, Little Words Project, Outreach, United States Golf Association, Festival Foods, Kwik Trip, Kemps, and Gatorade.

Dana Rady, Director of Promotions for the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association, commented: “This year’s Run Madtown weekend was a great opportunity for us to connect athletes with the origins of their food and encourage them to eat Wisconsin Potatoes. We are excited to return in 2026 to power more runners and walkers to their personal bests with Wisconsin Potatoes!”

Claire Reed, top female finisher in the 10K and a Madison native who runs with the Driftless Distance Project, commented: “It was awesome to race Run Madtown again after two years! The beautiful course brought back so many memories of growing up in Madison, and everyone at the event brought so much energy. It was extra special to run a 10K personal record during a big marathon training cycle and break the tape for the first time in my running career.”

Lucas Kihmm, multimedia reporter for 27 News in Madison, ran the half marathon. “I had an amazing time racing! It was a very scenic 13.1 mile route and I’m so happy that a few of my co-workers were able to run it with me. I’d do it again!” he said.
