The Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners (WNLRs) are pleased to announce this year’s scholarship award winners to outstanding high school seniors throughout Monterey County, California. This year, a total of $13,750 in scholarship awards, ranging from $500 to $2000, were given to twelve students who were nominated by their coaches and met the WNLRs running and educational criteria.
“Our running club is dedicated to distance running, health, and fitness and we want to encourage and recognize our local senior runners. We’re proud and impressed by their dedication and commitment to both running and academics.”, said Emily Cole, president of the club. The club has been providing scholarships since 2001. The scholarship donations are received from individual WNLR club members, event fundraisers, and include sizeable grants from the Big Sur Marathon Foundation and Granite Construction Company.
