MARKETING INTERN

Running USA | Temporary / Remote / Part-Time (20 hours/week)

Reports to: Executive Director but work in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications

About Running USA

Running USA is the nonprofit trade organization for the running industry, dedicated to growing and supporting road running in the United States. Through research, education, and advocacy, we serve event organizers, industry suppliers, and running enthusiasts nationwide. Our marketing team plays a vital role in keeping our community informed, engaged, and growing.

Position Summary

Running USA is seeking a part-time enthusiastic and detail-oriented Marketing Intern to support our communications and digital presence. In this role, you will be responsible for publishing industry content to our website and amplifying it across our social media channels. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in sports industry marketing, content management, and social media strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Website Content Management

       Publish submitted member press releases to the RunningUSA.org website in a timely and accurate manner, verifying submitter eligibility for publication and ensuring proper formatting.

       Post job listings submitted by members in good standing to the Running USA jobs board, maintaining accurate and up-to-date postings.

       Coordinate with submitters as needed to clarify details or gather missing information.

Social Media: Facebook

       Share published press releases and job postings to the Running USA Facebook page with engaging, audience-appropriate captions.

       Adapt website content into Facebook-optimized posts, including appropriate imagery and calls to action.

       Monitor post engagement and flag notable comments or interactions to the Director of Marketing and Communications.

Social Media: LinkedIn

       Share press releases and job opportunities on the Running USA LinkedIn company page, tailoring messaging for a professional industry audience.

       Write professional, on-brand captions that highlight the significance of press releases and attract qualified candidates to job postings.

Social Media: Instagram

       Create or source visually compelling graphics to accompany press release and job posting announcements on Instagram.

       Write engaging captions and select relevant hashtags to maximize reach within the running community.

       Maintain a consistent visual brand aesthetic aligned with Running USA’s brand guidelines

General

       Maintain an organized content log tracking all published press releases and job postings across platforms.

       Stay current on trends in the road running industry and social media best practices.

       Assist with additional projects for the organization as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

       Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field.

       Strong written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

       Experience with WordPress.

       Familiarity with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram and their respective audiences.

       Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a remote environment.

       Basic proficiency with content management systems or willingness to learn.

       Basic graphic design skills using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools.
